Lagos to begin public parade of culprits of gender-based violence

The Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation announced on Monday that henceforth, culprits of gender-based violence will be paraded publicly.

The ministry made this known in a statement released after the commemoration of the 16-day activism against gender-based violence for youths.

According to the statement, the decision was reached at the event, held at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Alausa, Lagos, with the theme ‘Orange the World, Stop Gender- Based Violence against women and girls now!’.

The statement read, “The participants were urged to be change agents in rebuilding cultural norms and practices that spike gender – based violence within the society.

“Culprits of all forms of Gender-Based Violence will henceforth be paraded publicly, as measures to curb such societal menace.”
