Korea to build $12.5m solar mini-grids in Nigeria

The Korean government says it would provide $12.4 million for the construction of solar mini-grids projects in different communities in Nigeria.

The Vice President of the Korean Institute for Advancement of Technology of Republic of Korea, Kim Jeong-Wook, disclosed this in Abuja on Monday.

Jeong-Wook said the project was designed to meet the rising energy demand of rural communities by constructing solar power generation systems in cooperation with the Nigerian government.

According to him, the project would boost local economy, create jobs, fight poverty and improve the lives of Nigerians.

He said, “Additionally, by narrowing the energy gap between the cities and rural areas, the project is expected to drive balance development across the country.”
