The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly placed Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano on its watch list ahead of the March 16, 2022 change of government in Anambra State.
It was learnt that the anti-graft agency in a letter written to the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service dated November 15, 2021 asked the Service to place the governor on his watch list.
EFCC also requested the Service to inform it anytime the governor is travelling out of the country from any of the International airports and other points of entry and exit.
It is still unclear why the anti-graft agency placed the governor on its watch list but some sources alleged that the move is an indication that the agency may have been discreetly investigating the governor and possibly have intelligence that he plans to travel after handing over power to his successor, Charles Soludo.
Efforts to reach the commission’s spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren to confirm the report proved abortive as his phones were not reachable.
