The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday, arraigned before an Ondo High Court, the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Bamidele Oleyelogun over alleged N2.4million fake seminar under his watch.
The Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Iroju Ogundeji, who was controversially removed, had written to EFCC to probe the fund allegedly received and shared by the speaker and others for a bogus seminar in Lagos State.
Ogundeji accused Oleyelogun and some members and officials of the Assembly of allegedly collecting and sharing some money for a seminar in Lagos state which they never attended.
The Speaker arrived the premises of the court located inside the correctional centre in Olukuta but operatives of the Correctional Centre prevented journalists who were on ground to cover the court proceedings from gaining entry into the court.
A Squadron Commander who manned the entry point said journalist could not be allowed in because of an order from Abuja which ordered that all correctional centres be on red alert to prevent jailbreaks.
However, the trial did not hold due to the absence of the counsel to EFCC.
