Abuja court adjourns suit seeking to disqualify Soludo as Anambra governor elect

A Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the judgment of a suit seeking to disqualify the Anambra governor-elect, Charles Soludo and his deputy governor-elect, Onyeka Ibezim in the just concluded November 6 governorship election.

The judgement which was initially fixed for today, November 30 by Justice Taiwo Oladipupo Taiwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja has been shifted by 24 hours.

However, the court did not give any reason for shifting of the judgment in the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/711/2021, but a notice sighted in the court room showed that the Judge will not sit today as earlier scheduled, hence the 24 hours adjustment of the court verdict.

The court however, apologized to lawyers involved in the legal battle and urged them to bear with the court.

Meanwhile, Plaintiffs in the suit, Adindu Valentine and Egwudike Chukwuebuk are claiming that Soludo provided false information in the affidavit (Form EC9) he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and thus should be deemed unqualified to stand for the election.

The applicants claimed that the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria in the affidavit claimed that he was contesting the Aguata 2 Constituency seat when he was contesting the Anambra governorship seat.

Defendants in the suit are the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Soludo and Ibezim.
