Olu of Warri dissolves traditional council, committees, sub-committees as revalidation of chiefs begin

The Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, has dissolved the kingdom’s traditional council, committees and sub-committees ahead of the revalidation and confirmation of chieftaincy titles on September 2, 2021.

The dissolution is contained in a memo dated September 1, 2021.

This is coming barely two weeks after the monarch was installed as the 21st Olu in Ode-Itsekiri, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The Warri Council of Chiefs, the Olu Advisory Council (Ojoye Ojisan), the Olu-in-Council, all standing ad hoc and sub-committees were dissolved.

The 37-year-old Olu, who is the first son of late Atuwutse II relied on Section 25 of the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council and Chiefs Law Capt. 2, Law of Delta State of Nigeria, 2008.

The registration of titles will begin with immediate effect after the revalidation and confirmation exercise.
