PDP Crisis: CJN summons 6 judges over conflicting orders

The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Tanko Muhammad, has summoned the Chief Judges of Rivers, Kebbi, Cross River, Anambra, Jigawa and Imo States to an emergency meeting over conflicting orders on the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Recall that last week, the Rivers and Kebbi State High Courts gave conflicting judgments concerning the leadership of the opposition party.

While the Rivers High Court barred Uche Secondus from parading himself as the party’s National Chairman, Kebbi High Court reinstated him.

Reacting to this in a letter of invitation, dated August 30, 2021, the Justice Muhammad summoned the Chief Judges to brief him on the incessant granting of the conflicting orders on suits instituted by different political parties.

The six state chief judges summoned are Ijeoma Agugua of Imo state, Chibuzor Amadi of Rivers, Mohammed Ambursa of Kebbi, Onochie Anyachebelu of Anambra, Akon Ikpeme of Cross River and Umar Sadiq of Jigawa.
