Gunmen have attacked the Nnewi Police Area Command in Anambra State, carting away some arms.
The incident happened on Monday as the state observed the sit-at-home order of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
It was gathered that there was heavy shootings between the gunmen and the Police after the gunmen stormed the area around noon with seven vehicles.
The gun duel reportedly lasted for an hour.
An eyewitness, who spoke to newsmen in confidence, said the policemen were overpowered by the police and their arms were carted away.
However, no casualty was recorded in the incident.
The eyewitness explained that “Even though reinforcement from the Navy arrived the scene shortly after, the gunmen had left before their arrival. Efforts to pursue them were unsuccessful.”
The Police spokesperson in the state, Tochukwu Ikenga, said he was yet to receive the report.
