Bandits demand N500m for release of kidnapped Niger commissioner

The bandits, who kidnapped the Commissioner of Information and Strategy in Niger State, Mohammed Idris, have reportedly contacted his family members to demand the sum of N500 million as ransom for his release.

Recall that the Commissioner was abducted from his home in Baban Tunga in Tafa Local Government Area of the state on Sunday.

The kidnappers were said to have made the contact on Tuesday to demand for the ransom.

Meanwhile, it was gathered that the state government held an emergency security meeting, presided over by the Deputy Governor, Ahmad Ketso, to strategize on the immediate release of the commissioner and others still in the hands of the kidnappers in the state.
