Bandits have attacked five communities in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing 42 persons.
The 5 communities in Faru district were attacked on Thursday evening.
An indigene of the area, identified as Malam Buba Faru, said the bandits, who were riding on over 100 motorcycles, stormed the communities, shooting indiscriminately at people.
The bandits were also said to have set houses and food stores on fire.
Faru also told newsmen that the armed men attacked farmers who were in their farmlands cultivating their crops, and that so far, 42 dead bodies have been recovered by the security and volunteer groups in the area.
He said, “They were shooting sporadically at people they came across in the five communities. They also attacked farmers who were in their farmlands cultivating their crops.
“So far, 42 dead bodies have been recovered by the security and volunteer groups in the area.”
According to Buba, the bodies would be buried on Friday, according to Islamic rites.
