The Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, has finally spoken on the federal government’s decision to ban Twitter operations indefinitely in Nigeria.
He said Nigeria and Twitter need each other and that the matter will be resolved soon.
The Senate President made this comment during a media briefing at the National Assembly on Friday.
The briefing was organized by his office to mark the second anniversary of the ninth assembly.
At the briefing, Lawan was asked why the Senate has been silent on the matter as well as his thoughts.
He said, “The Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, has informed Nigerians that they are talking with Twitter to resolve this matter.
“Nigeria needs Twitter just as much as Twitter needs Nigeria. I believe this engagement between Twitter and the government will yield fruitful results.
“I am an optimist. I believe all of us would have learnt our lessons.”
