ISWAP fighters attack Troops in Borno

Gunmen suspected to be fighters of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) attacked a military formation in the southern part of Borno state on Wednesday.

A security source, who revealed this to newsmen, said the terrorist group invaded the remote town of Damboa at about 10:30am, with dozens of gun trucks.

The incident reportedly threw the town into confusion as residents and IDPs ran for their lives.

The security source said, “I can confirm to you that these boys(ISWAP) are currently attacking state forces in Damboa town. Airpower has been activated to support the troops. Everything is under control,”

As of the time this report was filed, there was no record of casualties on the part of the troops or ISWAP.
