Gas station explodes in Lagos, razes two shops

A gas station located along Ogunlana Street, Ketu-Ikosi Road, Lagos State, exploded on Monday, causing a fire that burnt two shops.

This incident happened just 48 hours after a storey building, where motor spare parts were being sold at the Alapeju section of the Ladipo Market in Mushin, was gutted by fire.

The fire was said to have started about a few minutes past midnight on Tuesday after the Power Holding Company of Nigeria restored power supply.

Some residents of the area said they had called the fire stations in Alausa, Ikeja and even Ikorodu, but there was no response.

It was gathered that after an hour, operatives of the Lagos State Fire Service arrived at the scene and were able to put out the fire.

As of the time this report was filed, there were no casualties recorded.
