#EndSARS Protester who gave birth in prison granted N10m bail by Ondo Court

The #EndSARS protester who recently gave birth to a baby in prison, Kemisola Oguniyi, has been granted N10 million bail.

Roots TV Nigeria had reported how Ogunniyi was arrested in October 2020 by soldiers in Akure, Ondo State, during the #EndSARS protests, and had since been in police custody.

The new mother, who was two months pregnant at the time of her arrest, gave birth to a baby boy last Wednesday, June 16, 2021.

Ruling on Tuesday, an Ondo High Court granted her a N10 million bail and a surety in like sum.

The judge, Justice Omolara Adejumo, however, ordered the prison authorities to allow her go home for her child’s naming.

Adejumo held that the suspect can return to prison to fulfill her bail condition after the naming ceremony, which will hold tomorrow, Wednesday.

Ogunniyi and three others were accused of destroying the state secretariat of the All Progressive Congress (APC) during the violence that rocked the country after the EndSARS protests.

She and the other suspects were charged with arson, riotous assembly, stealing and malicious damage.
