Candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been declared winners of the chairmanship elections in Oyo State by the Oyo State Independent National Electoral Commission (OYSINEC).
The elections were conducted in 32 out of the 33 local government areas in the state on Saturday.
The winners of the elections were declared by the Chairman of INEC in the state, Isiaka Olagunju, on Sunday at the headquarters of the OYSINEC).
Recall that ahead of the elections, the Oyo state government had declared last Friday a public holiday.
The election took place in 32 local government areas, while the election held in Ido local government area of the state was rescheduled due to compliant over the omission of the logo of the Zenith Labour Party on the ballot papers in the council.
The state INEC Chairman said the commission took responsibility for the error and postponed the poll in the affected council to May 26, 2021.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, Adewale Osifeso, said the elections were generally peaceful.
