NDLEA arrests 80-yr-old woman, granddaughter, 2 others with 192kg hard drugs in Ondo

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Ondo State Command, have arrested an 80-year-old woman, Mary Adebayo, her 19-year-old granddaughter, Funmilola Adebayo and two other ladies in Akure for selling assorted illicit drugs like cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, tramadol, swinol and skuchies.

This was revealed in a press statement released on Wednesday by the NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi.

The Adebayos were arrested last Sunday, alongside two other ladies identified as Tessy Matthew and Blessing Adesida, following intelligence-based raids and follow up operations on their locations.

The octogenarian and her granddaughter were arrested at about 6:30am on Sunday at Ayeyemi Street, Akure south local government area, and Skuchies weighing 149kg, cocaine weighing 11grammes, methamphetamine weighing 17grammes, heroin weighing 3grammes, cannabis sativa weighing 4.914kg, swinol weighing 8grammes and tramadol weighing 49grammes were recovered from them.

Also recovered from them were two deep freezers and a TVS motorcycle.

At about 1:30pm the same day, NDLEA carried out a raid at Rate Hotel, Care Street, in Akure South LGA, where 25-year-old Tessy Mathew was arrested with 33kilogrammes of skuchies.

Following her preliminary interrogation, a follow up operation was immediately carried out, leading to the arrest of 25-year-old Blessing Adesida in Oshinle area of Akure South LGA.

Skuchies weighing 3kg and cannabis weighing 7grammes were recovered from her.

As a result of the bust, the Chairman/Chief Executive of NDLEA, Brig. General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) has directed the acting Commander, Ondo state command of the Agency, Callys Alumona, to launch a manhunt for other members of the drug cartel now on the run.
