Insecurity: PDP calls for state police, better equipment for military

In order to bring the security problem in the nation under control, the Peoples Democratic Party has demanded the creation of State Police and better equipment for the military.

The National Chairman of the party, Uche Secondus, made the call at a media briefing in Abuja on Monday.

The party chairman expressed disappointment over the fact that President Muhammadu Buhari has not considered it necessary to address Nigerians over the worsening security situation.

Secondus stated that the President was standing aloof and allowing “two media handlers issue annoying press statements in the name of the amorphous Presidency.”

The main opposition party also urged the Buhari-led administration to deploy technology in the fight against crime.

It also recommended the establishment of state police, the setting up of boarder patrol squads outside of the traditional immigration and customs to check the influx of armed criminal gangs.

The Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku, also speaking at the event, said the creation of state police was long over due.
