Gunmen kill 11, burn down church, houses, rustle cows in fresh Kaduna attacks

Some bandits have attacked Ungwan Gaida community near Kurmin Kaso in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing 8 persons.

The State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, who confirmed this in a statement, said several houses, including the Assemblies of God Church in the area were set ablaze by the bandits who came in large number.

He said, “Security agencies have reported that bandits attacked Ungwan Gaida community, near Kurmin Kaso, Chikun LGA.

“As of the time of this update, eight residents have been confirmed killed in this attack.

“A building belonging to the Assemblies of God Church was razed by the bandits, along with several houses.”

The Commissioner identified the 8 victims as Samaila Gajere, Bawa Gajere, Bitrus Baba, Umaru Baba, Solomon Samaila, Sambo Kasuwa, Samuila Kasuwa and Gideon Bitrus.

Aruwan also said the Nigerian Navy troops stationed at Kujama neutralized 3 bandits and arrested 2 accomplices after thwarting an attack on a community, near Kasso village in Chikun Local Government Area.

He added that bandits attacked herders settlement in another community in Igabi Local Government Area, killed 3 herders and rustled an unspecified number of cows.

“According to the report, the bandits rustled an unspecified number of cows. In the course of this, three of the herders were killed.

“Receiving the report, Governor Nasir El-Rufai expressed sadness at the attacks,” Aruwan said.
