Again, gas explodes in Ogun, injures two

There was another gas explosion in Ogun State at the Onikoko area of Abeokuta on Friday morning.

Two persons were injured from the explosion which happened barely 24 hours after a gas explosion at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, the state capital.

It was gathered that an industrial gas belonging to a construction company, kept in its garage, exploded, throwing projectiles which injured the victims.

An iron splinter from the exploded gas cylinder reportedly flew about 200 metres inside St. Leo’s College, Onikoko, and hit one of the victims on the chest.

The two injured persons have been taken to hospital for medical attention. Meanwhile, the Ogun state government has sealed off an industrial gas retailing depot at Omida.

The Commissioner for Special Duties, Femi Ogunbanwo, Special Adviser to the governor on Environment, Ola Oresanya, and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment,  Rasaki Ojetola and other  State government officials visited the scene of the incident.
