Unknown gunmen have attacked the Mbieri Divisional Police Headquarters in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo state, abducting a police officer and releasing suspects in custody.
This incident happened three days after the state Police Command headquarters and Owerri Correctional Center were attacked while 1,884 inmates released.
It was gathered that the policemen on duty were overpowered by the gunmen during a gun duel.
Speaking with newsmen, a community leader, identified as Nokey Ebikam, said the police divisional headquarters was not set ablaze but suspects in detention were freed by the armed men after vandalizing the facility.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Orlando Ikeokwu, confirmed the incident but did not give details of what transpired.
However, it was gathered that two other police officers suffered various degrees of injuries during the attack.
