Unknown gunmen attacked a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Charles Chukwuma Soludo, on Wednesday in Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra state, killing three policemen attached to him.
It was gathered that Soludo, who is contesting in the State’s governorship election under the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), was in the community for an interactive session.
The session was reportedly interrupted by the attackers, who killed 3 policemen, kidnapped one and made away with their rifles.
A resident narrated; “A couple of minutes ago, unknown gunmen disrupted the interactive session between Isuofia youth and Prof Chukwuma Soludo. In the process, three policemen were killed and one kidnapped, their rifles were also carted away.
“There is a serious stampede in the town center right now.”
However, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Monday Kuryas, has said that Soludo is safe.
This incident is happening 8 months before the governorship election in the state, which has been scheduled for November 6, 2021, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
