Suspected security official nabbed with 280kg assorted drugs in Kebbi

The National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Basiru Ibrahim, a drug trafficker who camouflages as a security agent and specializes in trafficking illicit drugs from Benin Republic through Lagos to Sokoto state.

Ibrahim was arrested while conveying 140 kilograms of Skunk and 140kg of Diazepam in his personal Peugeot 406 car with registration number Lagos KSF 60 BE at the Kingakwai checkpoint, Kamba, in the Dandi Local Government Area of Kebbi state.

During interrogation, the 38-year-old suspect confessed to having trafficked drug three times in the past from the Benin Republic for a notorious dealer known as Queen.

Peter Odadu, the state Commander of the NDLEA, mentioned in a statement that investigations were ongoing concerning the suspected senior official of the law enforcement agency.

The operatives of the Agency in Suleja, Niger state, have also intercepted another drug trafficker who tried to smuggle 2,800 bottles of diverse cough syrups into Abuja.

A total number of 1,020 bottles of CS cough syrup with Codeine, 390 bottles of CSP cough syrup with Codeine, and 1,390 bottles of Barcadin cough syrup with codeine were also recovered during the operation.

Ezenma Sunday and Nehemiah Isa were caught with 1.3kg of cannabis and 7 grams of Nitrazepam respectively on the 7th of April, 2021 as they were to take delivery of the consignments.

According to the Niger State Commander of the Agency, Haruna Kwetishe, illicit substances meant for drug joints in Abuja were produced from Onitsha, Anambra state, and diverted to Morado motor park in order to escape security scrutiny.
