Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, on Tuesday swore in Frank Ibezim, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) elected to represent Imo-North Senatorial District.
Ibrahim El-Ladan, the Clerk of the Senate, administered the oath of office and allegiance.
The newly elected lawmaker replaces the late Benjamin Uwajumogu who died in 2020.
Recall that the bye-election to fill the vacant seat was held some months ago and APC won the seat but there was no clear candidate.
However, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared APC as the winner but it did not declare any specific person as the occupant of the seat.
This led to a lingering issue between Ifeanyi Ararume and Ibezim before the Supreme Court declared Ibezim as the winner of the seat.
