Another Police station burnt by mob in Anambra

A mob reportedly attacked Zone 13 of the Nigeria Police Command, Ukpo Dunukofia local government Area of Anambra State in the early hours of Monday.

According to reports, two policemen identified as Inspectors Ishaku Aura and Uzoma Uwaebuka were killed during the incident. Their bodies have since been deposited at the morgue.

This is coming a few days after two students lost their lives when 10 unknown persons invaded the First bank in Ogbunike, in the state.

Several attacks have been recorded in the Southeast and South-south regions of the country in recent times against security personnel, notably between February 23 till date, resulting in killings and destruction of properties.

It will be recalled that on the 5th of April, 2021 unknown gunmen invaded the police headquarters and correctional center in Owerri, Imo state, reportedly burning 34 vehicles and freeing 1,844 prisoners.

This follows the recent announcement of a new security outfit jointly set up and called ‘Ebube Agu’ by the South-East governors aimed at tackling the insecurity plaguing the region.

The motives behind the attacks have yet to be ascertained as there is no evidence to prove the attacks are related, but some suspects have reportedly been arrested.
