The Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy has disclosed that as of Wednesday, March 31, 51 million National Identity Numbers have been fully enrolled in the country.
Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, said this on Thursday at the weekly State House Press Briefing in Abuja.
He also said 189 million SIM cards have been registered in the country out of which 150 million registrations have been completed.
Pantami added that it was a criminal offence punishable by imprisonment for any Nigerian to transact business like open a bank account, pay taxes among others without having NIN.
