A former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Wednesday, donated the sum of N50 million to victims of the Katsina Central Market fire incident which happened on Monday.
Tinubu announced the donation shortly after visiting the market and seeing the extent of damage, in company of the Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Bello Masari.
He said his visit was to sympathize with the people of the state over the burnt market and commiserate with the victims.
Reactions have, however, trailed Tinubu’s action with many describing his donation as a politically motivated donation, considering the fact the politician is allegedly contesting for the 2023 presidential election.
A Former Social Media Aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, criticized Tinubu for donating money to Katsina victims and ignoring fire victims in the South-West.
In a tweet on Wednesday, Omokri said, “Bola Tinubu, who didn’t visit or donate one kobo to victims of the Sasa market crisis, or to victims of the Ijesha market fire in Lagos, has today donated N50m to victims of the Katsina market fire. Obviously, Tinubu’s charity does not begin at home.”

Tinubu didn't donate a kobo after Sasa crisis, he didn't donate when Akesan happened, he was mute during the Abule Addo but quick to rush down to Katsina to drop 50m.
We can't dictate how he intends to spend his money but the posturing is too obvious. Trying to satisfy a region.— Premier (@SodiqTade) March 24, 2021
Tinubu will never be president of Nigeria. If he like let him donate his life to Arewa.
