A team of policemen and residents around the Sani Abacha Expressway in Amarata area of Bayelsa State prevented a bank customer from being attacked by a gang of armed robbers on Monday.
It was gathered that the victim who withdrew the sum of N10 million cash from a commercial bank was attacked by the armed robbers who started shooting at his car trying to force him to stop.
Recounting the incident, an eyewitness identified as Mary Fabi said the criminals trailed the customer with a Sport Utility Vehicle shooting at his car and tyres, which forced the victim’s car to slide to the other road, summersault a couple of times before hitting a commercial tricycle.
She added that no loss of life was lost in the process.
This incident caused traffic in the area as policemen and sympathizers chased the armed robbers who escaped without the targeted cash.
However, the victim and tricycle operator was said to have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
