Obiano clamps down on vehicles with tinted glasses, covered number plates

The Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, has banned vehicles with tinted glasses from plying any road in the state.

He has also banned vehicles with covered number plates.

Obiano made this known in an address to residents on Sunday, following recent terror attacks in the state.

He said the state had received reinforcement from security agencies to tackle insecurity.

Anambra State Police Command said it has commenced the arrest of vehicles with tinted glasses and covered number plates in the state as ordered by the state governor.

In a statement issued by the command’s spokesman, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, the order was part of the measures to prevent and checkmate further attacks on security personnel and critical infrastructure in the state.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP MB Kuryas, has promised to ensure full enforcement of the Anambra State Government’s directives by banning the use of covered car number plates and vehicles with tinted glasses in the State.

The CP also noted that some bad elements in the society had taken advantage of covered number plates and vehicles with tinted glasses to carry out all manner of crimes and unleash terror in the state.

He urged the general public to adhere and comply with the government’s directives.
