Insecurity: Wike faults Bukola Saraki, others for messing up the country

The Governor of  Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, said on Thursday that the high rate of insecurity ravaging the country presently was as a result of the prayers he made in 2016.

Wike had accused the Federal Government of ignoring him when he pleaded for support over a series of kidnappings and other forms of criminality ravaging his state when he assumed office in 2016

He said President Muhammadu Buhari had refused to offer any support but instead accused him of killing members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This he said made him ask the people of the state to go down on their knees and demand that the issue of insecurity become a national issue.

He said; “In 2016 when we came on board there was so much insecurity in the state. I was shouting. I ran to the Federal Government ‘give me special forces as I hear you give to others’. They said ‘no’. That I was killing APC people. So I came back home and told our people, ‘everybody kneel down and pray’ and called God that this insecurity will continue the whole of Nigeria and Nigeria will not know what to do again. And I told them that ‘if you don’t apologize to Rivers State, you’ll never see peace.’ And that’s what’s happening in this country today. Because they felt this state should go down.”

While commissioning the Government House Clinic in Port Harcourt, he also lambasted Ex. Senate President, Bukola Saraki, President Muhammadu Buhari, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) for being part of leaders who messed up the country.

Wike had also mentioned that Bukola Saraki gave his support to the present administration during the 2015 general elections, saying he warned those working for APC but they turned deaf ears.

He further encouraged citizens to admit their mistakes and work together to make amends in 2023.

He said; “I thank you for coming. I will invite you to speak to your people, even though you put your friends in power and things have not worked well. It’s good to remember history. He (Saraki) is one of the heads of those who brought these people. The punishment we face today, I thank God you also face it. They are pursuing you left, pursuing you right. They want to jail you. When we were talking to you people; “listen, don’t rush…These people, be careful,” he noted. They can never get me, I won’t go. They have their governors they talk to. I won’t go”, Nigeria has made a mistake, let us correct the mistake by going where the hope is and that is the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)”
