Impeached Ogun Deputy Speaker, Kadiri Requests For 1.5Bn Damages In Court

The Ogun State Deputy Speaker, Oludare Kadiri has approached the Federal High Court to challenge his impeachment from office; He was allegedly dismissed over obvious misconduct and misbehavior.

Hon. Akeem Balogun who immediately replaced him said that his dismissal did not follow due process.

Kadiri filed a case on the 10th of March, 2021 at the Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta with case number FHC/AB/FHR/35/ to reverse his impeachment and in the process also demand N1.5billion as restitution.

Kadiri in the suit mentioned Olakunle Oluomo, the speaker as the first respondent, and the House of Assembly, as the second respondent. He is requesting an order from the court, preventing the respondents and their agents from going further or doing anything that will stop him from taking back his post as the Deputy Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly.

Idowu Adepeju Kadiri, his counsel who signed the court paper is appealing his right to a fair hearing under section 36(1) of the Nigerian constitution which was breached by the respondents in the process of his dismissal from office.

Furthermore, he seeks an order declaring his impeachment and the process as null, void, and of no effect.
