The call was made following a motion moved by a lawmaker, Abdulkadir Rahis, on Wednesday.
The motion called on the federal government to re-strategize in the fight against insurgents in the country but another lawmaker, Mansur Soro, moved for an amendment to the motion, calling on the government to consider paying foreign soldiers to fight the anti-terror war.
Recall that in Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, he procured the service of mercenaries to assist the Nigerian army in the war against insurgents.
But however, President Muhammadu Buhari later terminated the contract, describing it as “disgraceful.”
In his motion, Rahis raised alarm over the recent spike in attacks on Maiduguri, particularly the February 23 attacks, which resulted in the death of 16 people, with about 60 others sustaining various degrees of injuries.
