The Federal Government has commenced the procurement process for 12 federal highways mapped out for concession under the Highway Development Management (HDMI) initiative.

The 12 routes for concession under the pilot phase include Benin-Asaba, Abuja-Lokoja, Kano-Katsina, Onitsha-Owerri, Shagamu-Benin, Abuja-Keffi-Akwanga, Kano-Shuari and Potiskum-Damaturu, Lokoja-Benin, Enugu-Port Harcourt, Ilorin-Jebba, Lagos-Ota-Abeokuta, and Lagos-Badagry-Seme border.

The 12 highways mapped out for concession by the Federal Government has a combined length of about 1,963km and represents less than 5.6 per cent of Nigeria’s 35,000km federal highway network.

Fashola said, “These 12 roads were carefully chosen to ensure that each of the six geopolitical zones are covered.
