FCTA issues 7-day vacation notice to businesses operating in Maitama

A seven-day quit notice has been issued to business organizations operating in Maitama district, Abuja, by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).

Businesses running in this area are advised to relocate to the central business district or risk being sealed up.

Garba Kwamkur, the acting Director, Department of Development Control, gave the warning when the department visited Gana Street in Maitama on Tuesday, to sensitize operators on the initial FCT residential purposes.

He said, “the Department had a week ago served all the buildings that have currently been converted to commercial uses, notifications to revert to residential purposes which they were meant for, but failed to comply”.

Kwamkur directed the business organizations to relocate to the Central Business District or Idu Industrial Estate, which the FCT master plan has outlined for business operations.

However, the director warned that failure to stick to the ultimatum, business premises will be sealed off at the expiration of the seven days.
