Don’t kill innocent farmers, Sunday Igboho warns security operatives

A Nigerian “Freedom Fighter”, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, in a released audio recording, has warned security operatives not to kill innocent farmers, following the order given by President Muhammadu Buhari to shoot anyone found carrying AK-47.

In a statement by the Presidential Spokesperson, Garba Shehu, the President had on March 3, 2021 given directives to security operatives to shoot anyone found with an AK-47.

“The president has ordered security forces to go into the bushes and shoot whoever they see with sophisticated weapons like AK-47. He ordered that whoever is seen with terrible weapons at all should be shot immediately.”

Recall that while reacting to a statement by the Buhari concerning the activities of the Fulani herdsmen in the Southern region of the country, Sunday Igboho, had cautioned the Nigerian Police, Army, and DSS against arresting innocent citizens in the South-Western and South-Eastern regions who only bear light arms.

Expressing his gratitude towards the steps taken by the President, he further mentioned to security operatives that Sheikh Gumi had given a clear direction of where Fulani herders who bear AK-47 are, and as such their target shouldn’t be focused on community security whose objective is to protect the lives and properties of innocent citizens.

He said; My name is Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho. Concerning President Buhari’s directive to kill any herdmen found with AK-47, we are happy with this decision. It’s not like these Fulani herdsmen are just carrying guns, they have been doing that since and it is not new. Thank God that our voices were heard. To all DSS, Police, Army, and Civil Defence who would act on the President’s command, please be fair. Don’t go to Igbo or Yoruba lands to kill our farmers and then lie that they carried a gun. If you do such, there will be trouble in the land. Sheikh Gumi has shown you the way to capture these bandits, Go there and do your work properly.”
