Oil prices rose above $71 a barrel on Monday, the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began, following a missile attack on Saudi Arabia’s oil facilities on Sunday.
A drone attack from the sea on a petroleum storage tank at Ras Tanura, one of the largest oil shipping ports in the world, took place on Sunday morning, the kingdom said.
Brent crude increased to 2.11% to $71.38 a barrel on Monday morning in Asia, the highest since May 2019.
U.S West Texas Intermediate Crude rose by a similar amount to as high as $67.98 a barrel.
