Court sentences man to 3 months in prison over internet fraud in Abuja

Justice Peter Affen of the Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced one Ogbelegba Emmanuel Abel, an internet fraudster to 3 months imprisonment for fraud, bothering on false pretenses.

Ogbelegba was arrested at his apartment in Maitama on the 25th of February 2020, following credible information obtained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission about his suspicious source of livelihood.

He was sued on one count charge of acquiring by false pretense after a thorough investigation.

He pleaded guilty to the charge pressed against him, as a result of this the court sentenced him to prison for the period of three months with an option of paying one hundred thousand Naira fine.

The court also ordered the offender to return the sum of $150 USD and the forfeiture of his phone to the Federal Government.
