Again NDLEA intercepts parcels of hard drugs shipped to the UK, Ireland, Australia

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, (NDLEA) has again intercepted packaged and unaccompanied parcels of cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, and cannabis Sativa being shipped to the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland, Australia, the Maldives, and New Zealand.

 

Sikiru Owolabi, a notorious trafficker, the mule of the two parcels has been arrested by an undercover narcotics agent affiliated to two international courier companies after strategic surveillance by the operatives.

During interrogation, Owolabi confessed that he was arrested after 1 kilogram and 200 grams of cocaine concealed in cream containers meant for Dublin in Northern Ireland, and the UK were intercepted at one courier firm in Lagos.

In the same vein, 320 grams of heroin in earrings coming from Congo and going to Australia was also seized at different courier firms in Lagos as another 390 grams of cocaine hidden in men’s clothing going to Northern Ireland was intercepted in the same company.

In another undercover operation, 500 grams of Cannabis Sativa kept in automobile parts was seized at a courier firm, 200 grams of methamphetamine hidden inside an award plaque, 200 grams of methamphetamine concealed in a book going to New Zealand and the Maldives were all intercepted.

Asides the arrest of Owolabi, all hands are on deck to track and arrest traffickers behind the other unaccompanied illicit drugs packaged as parcels for shipment to Europe.

Brig. Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa, Chairman/CEO of the NDLEA has therefore commended men and officers of the agency who were involved in the operations.

“I ask all our men and officers involved in the various overt and covert operations across the country to continue with the ongoing offensive action until we chase the criminal elements out of their illicit and damaging trade”
