Abducted OOU female students regain freedom

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have confirmed the release of the two female students of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Ayetoro campus, Ogun State, who were kidnapped last Sunday.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Abimbola Oyueyemi, on Tuesday confirmed that the female students identified as Adeyemo precious and Oyefule Abiola are currently with the police and would reunite with their families soon.

The students were kidnapped at about 9:00 p.m. on Sunday following a raid by bandits at the Igbole Aibo quarters in Ayetoro.

The Deputy Registrar, Corporate Affairs Unit of the institution, Niyi Oduwole, who confirmed the abduction, had said, ”The incident is most unfortunate. The university is beefing up security around all our campuses and hostels.

“We sympathize with the parents of the victims and we want to assure them that their wards will be rescued unhurt. We are on top of the situation.”

The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, took to his handle on Twitter to appreciate the efforts of the Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Police and other security agencies involved in the rescue process.
