A video of some travelers abducted on Tuesday in Niger State along the highway has been released by suspected Kidnappers.
The gunmen ambushed the commuters who were returning from a wedding in Rijau Local Government Area of the state.
A senior official of the National Union of Road Transport Worker (NURTW) in Tegina, Bello Muhammed, told newsmen that the kidnappers also shot dead three vigilante members who attempted to foil the abduction.
The criminals are reportedly demanding N500 million ransom for the release of the victims.
In the video, which surfaced early on Wednesday, some of the abducted travelers, including children and women, can be seen crying and beseeching the help of the government in facilitating their release.
Also in the video, the kidnappers can be heard speaking in Hausa, telling the victims what to say, flaunting their weapons and threatening to kill the hostages should the government fail to meet their demands.
