Terrorist Group Attacks Chibok, Kills 5 Soldiers And A Woman

Insurgents suspected to be Boko Haram fighters have attacked the Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State killing at least five soldiers and a civilian woman.

According to reports, residents had earlier raised alarm over the build-up of Boko Haram fighters in Sabon Gari town, in Damboa LGA overtime before they finally invaded Kwada village on the southern Borno route burning houses and killing at least a civilian lady.

Allen Manasseh the media Director of Kibaku Area Development Union, an umbrella body for the Chibok community spoke with reporters saying the attack resulted in the death of a woman and the burning of several houses, including those of two younger brothers of the late Rev. Lawan Andimi, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in the Michika LGA of Adamawa State.

According to Manasseh, the communities in Chibok have suffered over 69 attacks from Islamic State West Africa Province(ISWAP) and its parent body Boko Haram and the six soldiers who lost their lives were fighting to repel the attackers.

Manasseh said, “As a community, we commiserate with the families of the soldiers and the woman killed in the attack.

“This further reiterates our position as a community, that we are under siege and all our communities could be attacked at any time.”
