The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has raised alarm over a fake National Number (NIN) app that claims to help link the National Identity Number to SIM cards and urges the general public to be cautious.
NIMC disclosed this via its Twitter handle on Monday when it was educating Nigerians on the difference between the fake and original app.
It tweeted,
“The app was not created by NIMC or the Federal Government of Nigeria. It is run by fraudsters who are currently harvesting people’s NINs and BVNs by default,”
The Commission advised people to protect their data and stop disclosing personal information to unauthorized persons or platforms.
