Mama Boko Haram facing 13 court cases – EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, says Aisha Wakil, also known as Mama Boko Haram, is facing 13 count charges at the federal and state high courts in Maiduguri, Borno State.

A statement by the North-East Zonal Head of the EFCC, Egbodolo Olumide, reveals the cases before Justice Aisha Kumaliya of the Borno State High Court in Maiduguri is a fresh charge bordering on criminal conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretense and inducement.

Mama Boko Haram and 2 other suspects were alleged to have induced their victim to execute a supply contract worth N41.77 million for a foundation owned by Mama Boko Haram and refused to pay after the contract was executed.

When the charges were read out, the defendants pleaded ‘not guilty.’

A date was asked to be fixed for trial by the prosecuting counsel, Haruna Abdulkadirin, in order to enable the first and third defendants, who did not have legal representation do so in the next hearing scheduled for January 26, 2021.
