Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State on Tuesday signed into law a bill that repeals payment of hefty pension to former governors and deputies of the state.
AbdulRazaq signed the Act repealing the pension law during a brief budget signing ceremony attended by the Speaker, Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, and some members of the state House of Assembly.
Recall that in November the Governor disclosed plans to retract the payment of the huge sums paid to former state leader, stating that the state can no longer afford the payment of pension to these officials as they are managing the limited financial resources of the state.
An executive bill was forwarded to the state House of Assembly by the Governor, which recently passed it.
The Lawmakers commended AbdulRazaq for his clear vision to transform the State.
