COVID-19: NYSC postpones camp reopening date, bans religious gatherings

The National Youth Service Corps has announced the postponement of orientation camps nationwide from January 18 to January 19. It has also banned all forms of religious gatherings on its orientation camps.

This was announced by the NYSC Camp Safe Reopening Project Lead, Oyeladun Okunromade, at a sensitization webinar for the 2020 Batch B Stream II Corps Members, held on Friday.

The webinar, titled ‘Protecting The health Of The Nigerian Youth: Safe Reopening Of NYSC Orientation Camps’ had in attendance the Director-General of NYSC, Brig. Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim and the Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Chikwe Ihekweazu.

The NYSC DG also warned prospective corps members that the service would not hesitate to decamp anyone who fails to adhere strictly to covid-19 protocols on orientation camps.

Okunromade said 200 Corps members are expected to resume daily in order to reduce the crowd and facilitate the testing process and that anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 will be immediately isolated at the approved NCDC health facility.

Corp members who fail to resume at their stipulated dates risk resuming with the next batch.
