The Cross River State Commissioner of Police, Abdulkadir Jimoh is dead.
He passed away in the early hours of Friday at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital after spending barely five months in office.
Sources say the CP allegedly died of COVID-19 related sickness.
Confirming the death, Ikpeme Ikpeme, the Chief Medical Director of the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital said “He was dead on arrival. COVID-19 protocols will be followed before his body will be evacuated.”
He also advised all those who were with him or in contact with him before his demise to visit the hospital for COVID-19 test and subsequently self-isolate.
Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade, while reacting to the news, expressed sadness and grief over the death of Jimoh. He described Jimoh’s death as a great loss to the state, country and the police force.
