Akufo-Addo Re-elected As President of Ghana

President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, has been declared winner of the 2020 presidential election in the country after polling a total of 6,730,413 votes (51.59%). He defeated his closest opponent, former president John Mahama, who pulled a total of 6,240,889 votes (47.36%).

Akufo-Addo contested on the platform of the New Patriotic Party while Mahama contested on the platform of the National Democratic Congress.

The chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana, Jean Mensah, said the final results were without Techiman South because it was being contested. However, she noted that the total votes in the constituency being 128,018, cannot change the outcome of the result.

Jean Mensah further stated that it is her duty to announce Nana Akufo-Addo as the president-elect of Ghana with the powers vested in her.
