Insecurity: Sultan cries out, says the northern part of the country is no more safe revealing that AK 47 wielding bandits go around in the villages unchallenged

Saad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto, has raised his voice against the menace of insecurity in most parts of the country. According to the religious leader, “the north is not safe.”

Abubakar said the activities of bandits has made the region unsafe, stressing that the region is the worst place in the country.

The sultan spoke at the fourth quarterly meeting of the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC) in Abuja, on Thursday.

The monarch said the AK 47 wielding bandits go around in the villages, households and markets unchecked.

He said: “Security situation in northern Nigeria has assumed a worrisome situation.

“People think North is safe, but that assumption is not true. In fact, it’s the worst place to be in this country.

“Because bandits go around in the villages, households and markets with their AK 47 and nobody is changing them.”

Several parts of Nigeria have become havens for criminal operatives who go about killing, kidnapping, maiming, raping and committing various crimes against innocent Nigerians.

Thousands of people have been killed in the last few years and all calls by concerned Nigerians including the senate to remove the service chiefs and appoint fresh hands to tackle the rising security challenges in the country have gone unheeded by the Muhammadu Buhari presidency.
