Nnamdi Kanu to Buhari: We will launch Radio Biafra in Daura and you cannot stop us

The Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB) has alerted the federal government that its next move would be to launch the radio station in Daura, the president’s hometown.

IPOB’s announced its new agenda barely twenty-four hours after the federal government approved N654 million for the deployment of hybrid spectrum monitoring system that would target illegal frequencies in the southern part of the country especially, the South East- a move many interpreted as an attempt to stop the reception of Radio Biafra in the region.

Isa Pantami, Nigeria’s Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, yesterday briefed members of the Federal Executive Council, FEC, on how his ministry uncovered 320 frequencies being used all over the country and of this 320, 106 were illegal.

He then sought FEC’s approval for the sum of N653,886,584 to procure and deploy hybrid spectrum monitoring system that will cover the south east- a request that was approved on Wednesday.

Angered by this development, IPOB in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, released a statement informing the government that the group, led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu would launch the radio station right in his hometown.

The group insisted that the present effort by the Buhari-led federal government would amount to exercise in futility and wondered why such a humongous sum would be committed to jamming the frequencies of a radio station operated by a group the federal government had publicly called “miscreants.”

IPOB insisted that it would remained undeterred in its move to actualise Biafra independence which they called a “divine mandate.”
