Former Alpha-Beta Consulting Executive: How the Nation Newspaper and other printing concerns linked to Bola Tinubu received N1 billion suspected to be black funds in 2017

Publishers of the Nation Newspaper, Vintage Press allegedly received N1 billion suspected to be illicit funds alongside two other printing firms- Afkar Printing Press and Lagoon Press Limited in 2017.

The printing concerns are all suspected to be owned by Lagos strongman, Bola Tinubu whom his former associate- Dapo Apara- has now dragged to court to answer for his alleged corrupt dealings.

Dapo Apara in a statement of claim at the Lagos State High Court described how funds were moved in apparent money laundering from Alpha-Beta Consulting to businesses and individuals allegedly linked to Bola Tinubu.

Alpha Beta is a company that was previously a contractor to the Lagos government and managed the state’s internally generated revenue in exchange for a commission.

Apara was amongst the earliest executives of the firm which many had accused of being a conduit that channels Lagos public funds into Tinubu’s political empire.

Apara claimed in his statement that Alpha Beta illicitly transferred N1 billion to the company that publishes The Nation and two other printing concerns.

Tinubu, a founding chieftain of the ruling APC is widely regarded as the owner of The Nation and contributed immensely in the emergence of Muhammadu Buhari as Nigeria’s president in 2015, channeling extensive financial and media resources to the former military tyrant who had attempted to rule the country as civilian president in three previous unsuccessful attempts.
