As the nationwide looting spree continues, angry youths invade Abuja NYSC camp, cart away valuables

Scores of angry youths this Tuesday morning broke into the Orientation Camp of the National Youth Corps (NYSC) in Kubwa, Abuja and carted away valuables including mattresses and office furniture.

Like what has been witnessed in several other cities in the country where angry individuals have taken the law into their hands, the persons who invaded the Kubwa NYSC camp were armed with knives and other sharp objects. They blocked the road and ordered motorists to turn back.

Reporters saw some of the young men coming out of the premises with mattresses, plastic chairs and office furniture.

Residents in the neighbourhood also took advantage of the unrest to participate in the looting.

In the past one week, angry youths have attacked warehouses containing COVID-19 palliatives in Lagos, Osun, Edo, Oyo and Gwagwalada Abuja.

Senior politicians have also been visited by the rampaging youths who cart away household furniture and whatever they can find.

The #ENDSARS protests against police brutality came to a violent end last Tuesday after soldiers opened fire on peaceful protesters in the Lekki area of Lagos.

Amnesty International estimate that at least 12 persons lost their lives in the shooting which has drawn condemnation from several local and international authorities.
